I lately got attacked by a rootkit malware, and one of my display drivers got infected. So i deleted that 1 driver (thank god i didn't get black screen). So i installed new drivers from my graphics card manufacturer(ATI) and installed them BUT I FORGOT TO UNINSTALL THE OLD DRIVERS.

Now my programs run slow and choppy. for example if i had this window over my desktop, then minimized, each file on my desktop would slowly appear 1 file at a time... And if that hasn't driven me nuts, i still have to find my ATI drivers that i can't see in add/remove programs...

What do you suggest i do in this situation? A format would be a real bugger since i've got databases upon databases of information that i would have to pack/unpack on usb drives...

Thanks to anyone willing, it was hard for me to explain this, so if you have any other questions about my problem, i'll add new info in the EDIT section.
A) How do i find

Ati is now AMD but don't expect much help from them. I have a Compaq with a intel chip-set and it is a royal pain to get my graphics card to install. I have to install the on-board video driver before installing the ati drivers. then I have to install the right chip-set driver for intel and not amd. check your desktop settings and try to change the size of your desktop and see if that helps mine runs better at 800x600. If your driver is not installed right then find out what graphics card that you have and get the driver from the maker of the card and not from AMD since the driver that you need is the video driver and not all the other junk that AMD makes you download. one more thing your ATI drivers will not be in your program files they will be on your c drive go to my computer then local disc usually c drive and you should see it there.

Have you ever tried doing a system restore to a day before the new drivers were installed? This can set your computer software to an earlier date then install the same new version of drivers to the computer by either selecting the same ATI folder or agree to remove the previous drivers software.

ATI no longer exists, so what ever drivers you got from them are probably ancient and wrong.

ATI were bought by AMD, so check their website (AMD's) for drivers (just go autodetect).
