and most of the above don't help much.
8meg of your 128 is probably being used for graphics, so don't worry about it, just buy some new memory sticks of the same type that are larger capacity.
OK, you need more RAM to help your puter, true, but virtual memory is space on your hard drive. It would help if we knew what operating system you have as to help with the diagnosis & treatment.
First thing to do is clean up your hard drive. Right click on your C: drive icon / properties / disk cleanup & put ticks in all your boxes except compress. Then ok. This will get rid of a load of stuff you will never use.
Next, you can turn off system restore. That will free up about 12% of your hard drive, but it does mean you won't be able to restore back to an earlier point if you screw up, so be careful what you do from here on in. If you are running windows ME without doing windows update, your sys restore should be turned off anyway, cos Microsoft (god blessem) got it wrong when they made it in the first place & it eats ALL available space on your hard drive.
The last thing you can do is defrag your system. This never hurts. Rightclick C: / properties / tools / defragment / defragment now. This will make the puter a much happier bunny.
In short, clean up your hard drive, minimise of turn off system restore, then defrag.
Hope this helps.
