When I turn on my laptop, it has this black screen and it says Missing Operating System. I have the Windows 7 dvd to put it on my computer, but there's no where to put the dvd on my laptop. How should I do this?

This says you have no OPTICAL DRIVE! No CD/DVD drive. One thing you might think about doing is buying an EXTERNAL CD/DVD drive USB type. you could also think about a THUMB or FLASH DRIVE.

See this article from Microsoft:

And this:

Installation

To install the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool:

1.Click to open the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool installation file.

2.When you are prompted to either save the file to disk or run it, choose Run.

3.Follow the steps in the setup dialogs. You'll have the option to specify where to install the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool.

trouble with netbooks too small for dvd drives. can buy an external cd/dvd drive usb plug in. but sounds like something or someone messed up bios. it doesn't know where to boot system from. when you boot it up, hit any key, see what it does, if it ask about resetting bios, reset to defauft. or take it to a local tech.

you will need a external cd rom drive.and set your bios to boot from that drive at startup.
