hello
I got a problem accessing hard disk partitions on one of our network computer.
Windows xp is running on this computer
this computer is a member of domain network
there is one fixed disk (2 partitions).

windows start normally and loggin done properly everything seems ok .
but when trying to open a hard disk I got message that (access is denied)
I loggin as administrator ,,,,, same message
safe mode ,,, same message

I checked hard disk property for both partitions I got the following:
capacity is 0
free space is 0
file system is raw

why access denied ,,, is it permissions issue ,,, or hardware problem
and what is raw file system.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY USB DRIVE HERE'S HOW TO GET YOUR DATA BACK IN A SAFE WAY DOWNLOAD ZERO ASSUMPTION RECOVERY (FROM http://www.download.com) AND INSTALL IT THIS SIMPLE TO USE TOOL IS REALLY USEFUL WHEN RECOVERING DATA FROM A RAW FILE SYSTEM (OR FORMATTED DRIVES) EVEN THOUGH IT IS ONLY A DEMO YOU CAN RECOVER UP TO 4 FOLDERS PER RUN BUT THE GOOD THING IS YOU CAN PERFORM SEVERAL RUNS. THEN USE PARTITION DOCTOR http://www.softpile.com/Utilities/File_Management/Review_33386_index.html

TO PARTITION YOUR DRIVE AND THEN FORMAT IT SO IT CAN BECOME ACCESSIBLE AGAIN. (NOTE: MAKE SURE THAT YOU RECOVER ALL YOUR DATA IN A PARTITION DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE YOU ARE RECOVERING FROM) AND TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION IT IS NOT A PARTITION ISSUE IT IS MORE OF A HARDWARE ISSUE A RAW PARTITION CAN BE THE RESULT OF AN ERROR ON THE HD'S MBR AND EVEN THOUGH YOUR HDD STILL HOLDS ALL THE DATA IT WILL APPEAR AS IT IF WAS EMPTY AND NOT FORMATTED. HOPE I COULD BE OF HELP!! GOOD LUCK!

Just a guess... but I think I remember a compu-sci professor refer to an unformatted disk as a raw disk. Is it possible that the partition data has been corrupted to the point that the data is unrecognizable by the system?

the partition is gone. Use a Linux distro live CD to fix the partition. Such as Ubuntu or knoppix. If nothing else you may be able to recover the data thru linux to another drive.

it is a unformatted partition right click on the my computer icon and left click on manage in the console tree on the left side click on disk management in the main window are all the harddisks and there partitions right click on the raw partition and left click on format once you format it you may need to right click on it again and set it as active then you are done

i think the partitions are damaged, you might have to reformat the disk and make new partitions.

try Active @ File Recovery to recover the files and reformat the disc to make it work again. :) goodluck!
