I'm on the one level where I have to defend the big ship from a big alien. (Don't know the actual level name, lol. I'm also in a hurry)
Almost instantly after I load the level, the game freezes, sound skips and I get the blue screen of death error.

I tried running Crysis on the recommended Very High as well as low, changed the screen resolution to 800x600 (both very high and low) and I still get the blue screen of death.

specs -
Windows 7 64 bit (Note: I think it is a problem with 7, as I have had nothing but problems with Windows since I installed Windows 7)
CPU - Intel i7 920 @ 2.66GHz
RAM - 12GB
GPU - Radeon HD 4850 512MB overclocked (Tried running Crysis with and without the overclock, did not help)

Sorry about this question being a mess, I did it fast.

It's a bug in the way Crysis accesses DirectX 10 on Windows 7. The access "just happens to work" on Vista, but is illegal and crashes on Windows 7.

To fix it, disable DirectX 10 support for this level. Find your shortcut to Crysis, edit its properties, and add '-dx9' onto the end of it. So if the shortcut links to:

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe"

change it to:

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -dx9

Once you beat the boss on this level, you can remove the '-dx9' from the end and play in DirectX 10 mode again.

(I believe selecting the "Play in DX9" option from the Games folder in the Start menu will work too.)
