I am having error with my graphics card, what do i do?

Recently i had to reformat my computer. After doing so i have been having errors. If i go to play a game (example-portal, Half-Life etc...) I get an error measge saying, "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0x compatible graphics adapters in the system! Please make sure you hace a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drived provided by the manufacturer. That applicationw ill now terminate" I have tryed installing drivers, etc. Nothing i did has worked and ive checked many websites. I despratley need help. Thanks.

There could be two things, first go to the graphics card manufacturer site, and download and install the most up to date drivers/software. If that doesn't fix it try installing direct x again. Between those two things, it should fix it.

It is obvious that the drivers for your graphic card are not installed properly.

If you do not have onboard graphics - or have a graphics card - right click on the card in Device Manager and uninstall the card. Get your driver CD and re-install the drivers. Re-start.

You may have to go to the manufacturer of your card web site to download the latest drivers.

have you downloaded the latest version of the graphic drivers?

If your version is correct - try swapping your video card.

Did you download direct X9?

GO to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

and download direct x9 if you have already resintall and restart and also make sure your drivers are up to date and check if that game supports your hardware (video card)
