At the dos prompt, type format c:
Primal

Pop in your bootup disk.



typing "fdisk" - will get you into your HD partition screen. You can add or delete partitions. Exit and Save.



Back in the Prompt



type "format c:" - without the ""



That will format your HD.



When it's done formatting



type "e:\ setup" or whatever drive letter it is



That will install your operating system from a CD in the tray

I assume u have a boot disk & it has sata drivers.

The link below gives instructions for using fdisk from a boot floppy.

But the procedure is similar. for cd boot also just drive is diff...

boot your system with your WINdows 98 CD\startup disk



1. fdisk

this message will show: do you wish to enable large disk support(y/n)

2. press y enter

3. press 1 to create dos partition or logical dos drive\ press enter

4. press 1 to create primary dos partition \press enter

maximum available size for primary dos partition press "N" here

enter your c: size (e.g 8000) press ESC to continue

5. press 2 to active partition

6. again press 1 to make extended partition

7. press 2 to create extended partition

8. press enter to used full space

9. press ESC to conitnue

10. enter the d: volume space

11. press ESC to exit fdisk & restart your computer to save partition

12 boot your system with your WINdows 98 CD\startup disk

13. now format your c: threw format

syntex= format c:

14. now ready to install operating system
