USB is neither parallel nor serial. That's the point! it's "something else"... besides, only one device can be connected to each port. If "the device" is a "USB Hub", you can have 4 "HUBbed" devices on each port. That's:
1 USB Port <- 1 HUB <- 4 devices
1 USB Port <- 1 HUB <- 4 devices
and NOT:
1 USB Port <- 1 HUB <- 1 HUB <- 7 devices
get it?
all in all, USB supports up to 127 devices in one system (that's "motherboard" btw).

127 would be great, but in reality no one really makes pass-through usb devices that are POWERED, so there's no friggin way to ever get 127 devices on one port!!!!!! idiots. that's always bugged me.
