Question:
Can I mirror my Mac OS X (tiger) set up on a removable hard disk, which can boot if needed?

Does anyone know how I can create a mirror image of my Mac's internal hard drive on an external drive (USB)? Could I also make it bootable, so that if my original set up suddenly refused to work, I can switch to my copy to restore?

Yes you can, you will need cloning software like SuperDuper! (shareware)to clone your internal HD to an external and make it bootable, another is Carbon Copy Cloner(donationware) among others, I use SD! it's very easy to use, has good documentation and great support service. Something to remember since you didn't post which version Mac you have, an Intel Mac will boot off of an external drive with USB, a PPC Mac will boot off of an external drive using firewire.

You can also copy your Install disc and boot off of it using Disk Utility, which I have done but for some reason AHT does not show up in it, or if your Mac is running OS X 10.1,10.2 or 10.3 you can use Boot CD.

You would have to install the copy hdd into the Mac for it to work. You can't boot from an external HDD.

Television is produced to the lowest common denominator - i.e., the common IQ of everyone, whereas a booklet is written to the best common denominator

I love watching television, I really like the animal shows, the medical shows and the judge and Judges shows
