I have two PNY 16gb flash drives that are USB 2.0. I also have a sandisk 16 gb flash drive which im pretty sure is 2.0 also. Ubuntu runs amazingly on the Sandisk at super high speed. The first PNY has Tails on it which runs extremely fast. The second PNY I've had trouble with because of it's speed working with Linux mint AND ubuntu. I've reformatted it over and over and over and reinstalled Linux on it over and over and over. Is there anything I can do to make the second PNY just as fast as the others? Thank you!

By the way, the fast flash drives are Ext 4 and each have 2GB swap space. I did the same for the second PNY but its really slow for some annoying reason.

FILE TRANSFER speed on the second PNY is fine but it just doesnt handle well with Linux installed on it.

I am using a Acer Aspire 5755G-6841. Core i5, Nvidia 1GB graphics 540m, 4gb DDR3

It relies upon on how a lot attempt you want to positioned into putting it up, comprise the equipment you want to apply and eliminate the equipment you may in no way use. It also relies upon on what your objective is for it being on a flashpersistent. i'm operating Debian from an exterior hardpersistent that boots up from the USB ports. There are 2 distinct techniques of set up to a flashpersistent. One permits you to download issues to the flashpersistent, yet once you shut it down, it doesn't keep those records, any incorrect way will guard the records. Ubuntu appears to be like the most reported and one talked about as penlinux which i believe is a slackware depending distribution. There are countless distinct distributions which could be put in to a flashpersistent.

Maybe it is the quality of the flash drives. Your PC is completely fine.
