Question:
USB Device (Wireless mouse) Not recognized? (No answers from other questions on here has helped)?

Hey,

So I have a 'Labtec Wireless Optical Mouse 1000 For Notebooks' wireless mouse and it's been working fine for the past few months, but recently it doesn't seem to work on my laptop, it comes up with a message 'Device is not recognized' and under Device Manager it says 'Unknown Device' with a yellow exclamation mark next to the item, on propeties of the item it says 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43).'

First off I tried fiddling around with it on the device manager but I couldn't do anything, so I looked for help on Yahoo Answers.

I think I've tried everything suggested:

I restarted my laptop (It worked ONCE last night but I've tried 100's of times since then)
I pressed 'Disable' and then 'Enable'
I changed the USB port it was in
I checked the mouse was working (it works on my computer but not my laptop)
I pressed 'Update Driver Software' but it's up to date
I uninstalled it and went onto the site to re-install software, but it doesn't come with any

Also when it was on my computer sometimes it freezes, but when it was working on my laptop for hours last night it was completely fine.

Does anybody have any further suggestions? Any help would be really appreciated :)
Thanks

Is the Device "Blue Tooth" type?

If so and Blue Tooth is not enabled, the device will not be recognized.

Search for the drivers by Googling the brand and model of Mouse.

Going to their site and downloading the drivers would be better than using the "Update"

feature in Windows - because the Update Feature does not always find the drivers from

online because it will only search the MS Servers and for products the computer already

came with - not the Manufaturer of each device added AFTER initial setup.

If installing a new driver, uninstall the old one COMPLETELY first then try adding the new

one.

If you uninstall it and Windows says it found new hardware and is searching for drivers...

DO NOT let it... tell it that you have drivers you will install yourself from a disk (or whatever

it says)...

Generally, driver issues are the problem - either that or the mouse itself has gone wrong.

First thing I would try is to see if perhaps another mouse works on this particular computer. Second, the Update the Driver isn't going to work since the device isn't recognized. If nothing works, I would suggest checking windows for updates, perhaps it has a mouse driver update. If not, then in device manager, under the device with the exclamation point, try updating the driver. But Browse your computer manually for driver software, click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" and try all of the drivers listed there until you find one that works. I have no other advice to give, so I wish you luck, and I hope something works!
