Device manager is showing yellow exclamation mark on audio controller and in it's properties-status is-This device cannot start (code 10).
I have worked out all possible solution provided by microsoft (updating driver/reinstalling)/checking services(windows audio stated-automatic) etc but still there is no sound.
Is this a registry problem? If yes then can you suggest me how to fix it.

Thank you

First shutdown, remove the sound card. Reboot, remove the drivers via Device manager. Reboot again, install the drivers from the driver CD. Shutdown, replace the card, reboot, and windows, will load the drivers you just installed.

If you do not have the CD, go to the manufacturers website and download the latest drivers.

Sounds like you need to update your sound card driver. Use a search engine and search for C-Media-AC97 Audio Driver. The C-Media-AC97 Sound card chip is very famous. You shouldn't have any problem finding one. It might not be the Sound Card driver which is the problem, it could be a simple Hardware conflict. Under the Hardware properties, check the Hardware resources tab and see if you have any conflicting hardware.

There is no sound card, it's a chip soldered onto the motherboard. I still get the Code 10 error
