yes it is

ADSL modem or DSL modem is a device used to connect a single computer or router to a DSL phone line, in order to use an ADSL service. Like other modems it is a type of transceiver. It is also called a DSL Transceiver or ATU-R. The acronym NTBBA (network termination broad band adapter, network termination broad band access) is also common in some countries.

Some ADSL modems also manage the connection and sharing of the ADSL service with a group of machines: in this case, the unit is termed a DSL router or residential gateway. DSL Routers have a functional block which performs framing, while other functional blocks perform Asynchronous Transfer Mode Segmentation and Reassembly, IEEE 802.1D bridging and/or IP routing. Typical user interfaces are Ethernet and USB. Although an ADSL modem working as a bridge doesn't need an IP address, it may have one assigned for management purposes.

virtual private network (VPN) is a communications network tunneled through another network, and dedicated for a specific network. One common application is secure communications through the public Internet, but a VPN need not have explicit security features, such as authentication or content encryption. VPNs, for example, can be used to separate the traffic of different user communities over an underlying network with strong security features.

A VPN may have best-effort performance, or may have a defined Service Level Agreement (SLA) between the VPN customer and the VPN service provider. Generally, a VPN has a topology more complex than point-to-point. The distinguishing characteristic of VPNs are not security or performance, but that they overlay other network(s) to provide a certain functionality that is meaningful to a user community.

They are the same thing.

ADSL Router: Is a mini computer really. It is a switch and a broadband modem in one box.

The switch part allows more than one computer to be connected (wired or wirelessly) on an internal network, protected from the internet.

The switch is connected internally to the broadband modem allowing all the internal PC's to access the internet through the modem.

A VPN Server: Is a PC that provides "Virtual Private Network" access to an internal network from external sources, like you while away from the office. A VPN is just an encrypted connection between two or more PC's. The server looks after connection and verification of clients (other PC's) attempting to get access to the network it stands guard over. The client PC would have to run a special piece of software that talks to and makes the encrypted connection with the server.

Hard disk drive is the same with hard drive or you'll see it as hdd to.

Adsl modem router is a device to connect to internet many of them have more than one Ethernet ports to connect from 1 to 4 computers, some have wifi connection to. They give ip (internet protocol names to the computers to access the net.(dhcp)

Vpn is a virtual private network, used is companies and universities and they work with a secure protocol and user names and passwords.

Yes HDD is a hard drive, the device used to store all your files.

ADSL modem (or router which is a more correct term) is used for high speed internet connections.

VPN is used for connecting to other computers.
