I have a Usb Mouse and a old keyboard with the keyboard plug and i was wondering is i could cut the plugs off and make a usb keyboard.

Sounds like corrupted USB drivers. Try the following: 1) Try booting into safe mode (F8, just before the Windows XP logo appears at boot up) and running System Restore. Will only work if keyboard/mouse work in Safe Mode. Failing that... 2) Run a repair install of Windows by booting from the CD and follow all the usual steps to install Windows. When it gets to the stage where it asks you which partition to install to it will give you the option to repair the existing installation.

You would have to make sure you have the correct pinouts.
