I have looked everywhere for the way to fix this. Tried multiple google searches and tried all the things there I could find:

>>I have reinstalled the drivers for my Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS 7.1 Platinum Pro.
>>I do not have a mic option in my advanced volume controls.
>> My headset is plugged in firmly and directly to my sound card (but not a 100% sure if correctly since it is not color coded).

My microphone was working for a bit when i had the wave selected in my recording controls then stopped. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for your time and effort.

i had that same problem but luckily unlike you i found a solution...

go to control panel and click on speech recognition, then click on advanced speech options...theres a section in the bottom that has a tab tha says "Microphone"..click on audio input....go to recording, then click on the microphone that you are using, then click configure...there are two tabs you should look at....Levels and Advanced.....Max out or however you want it to go....and there it should working better

if not ur mic is screwed, go buy another ~_~.....

control panel > sound speech audio > click any of the 3 subjects > recording tab > select your device and click default.....also select it again > properties > levels tab and look there, make sure mic boost is ticked somewhere in properties

assuming your pc is not on mute, if nothing else works i always do a system restore that fixes almost any "immediate problem".
