My friend recorded something and sent it to me on gmail. It said to open it I had to download it. It said it was 1071K. What is K and is it like mb? And if it is, is it more or less?

K stands for kilobytes. It is smaller than megabites (MB). 1000 Kilobytes (K) is 1 mb. So that means your file is 1.07 MB.

1 MB = 1000 KB. The K stands for Kilo or kilobytes.

There are several correct answers already here. What can become confusing is remembering that extra 24 bytes for each K. That is, one K is 1,024 bytes. So when thinking of a 1000K, we tend to think of one meg (one million), . one million and 24 thousand. And as you get into larger numbers such as gigabytes, all of those extra 24's really start to make a big difference in total size. And, in case you're wondering, the 1024 is really a binary number because that's how computers do things.... :)

1024k is 1mb

so that file is about 1 mb.

K is Kb, kilobyte, pronounced just like megabyte.

1024 kb = 1 mb / 1024mb = 1 gb

Everything is in engineering notation when it comes to computers. So K is Kilo and M is Mega. So in your case your 1071KB file is equal to 1.071MB.

1071KB is the same as 1.071MB

To avoid confusion,

B=Bytes, b=bits, K=1000, M-1,000,000
