If you have used or are using RAID 0 please write your thoughts about it. If it was good or bad. What your improved performance was. If it failed. And anything else that comes to mind.

Also if you don't think I should use RAID 0, should I use RAID 1? (My budget can get only two hard drives)

From what I understand RAID 1 has improved performance because the computer can read from both. Would the performance increase from RAID 0 or 1 be worth paying the price for 2 smaller hard drives vs. one larger one?

I know that if either fails I loose everything, but I'm going to set up an automatic backup, so that doesn't really matter.

This the the hard drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148261

raid 1 you lose only 1/2 the data pop in replacement drive repair you are golden

raid zero (think zero recovery)best is raid 5 or raid 10

some units (motherboards) will support 1+0 or JBOD

1+0 is the best of both worlds and jbod will use any type and size of drive not limited to exact type and size of drive (2 X500 gig)

jbod 250 +500+750 +320+you get the idea

but remember the best performance comes from using raid cards not relying on the one built into the motherboard

best speed and performance as well as reliability

i use 2 X1 terabytes tons of storage and very fast

Raid 0 is faster but if 1 drive fails, you lose everything. Raid 1 is a little slower but if 1 drive dies the other drive retains the info(it's used as backup)

I used raid 0 and definatly found the performance increase good, expecially when coping large files, such as movies...

Generally you will see a slight performance increase, make sure the drives you use are identicle in performance and size etc.

Good luck.
