She has a Dell. Only uses it to surf, No games, music on the hard drive. I deleted some programs, cleared cache, disk cleanup and defrag- so now she has a little less than 2 gigs left. What can be the cause of the problem?

Download and run CCleaner. After running the cleaner while still in CCleaner go to the Tools tab/System Restore. You can delete many restore points that are taking up space.

By the way you said you Deleted some Programs- I hope you uninstalled them.

Edit-You can look at this Microsoft tool and decide if you think it's worth a shot.

Do you have a back up program that is backing up to the hard drive or a partition on the hard drive? Check by opening the back up program and see where it is configured to back up to. It should not back up to the same drive it is backing up.

Edit-Is there another user account? If so delete the account if not needed or log onto that account and do a clean up there also. You did empty the recycle bin? The space is not free until the files are emptied from the recycle bin.

If it has Vista, System Restore is using all your free space, you need to reduce the amount allocated to it.

Launch a Command Prompt window with elevated privileges, to do this...

Click the Start button, type CMD and hit Return/Enter. Right-click on the Command Prompt shortcut and select Run as Administrator. When you encounter the UAC, click 'Continue'.

Type (or copy and paste) the command:

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /for=c: /on=c: /maxsize=15GB

and hit Return/Enter.

Once the operation is complete, restart the system, and Vista should treat the reallocated space as available.

Sometimes you need to defrag the hard drive so Windows can recognize what is really left on the hard drive.

you opt for a minimum of 10% of the finished area for digital reminiscence on my own. something under 10% you are able to desire to perform a little cleansing .you will desire to truly attempt to maintain a minimum of 15-20% loose in any respect circumstances. yet your laptop will run extra advantageous in the adventure that your accepted tension is under 50% finished( and the less on it the extra advantageous). Its a stable theory to save non software documents on a 2d tension( or on disk) to dodge muddle.

It might just be that the computer is dated. If you wanted to you could visit your local computer store and they could add more ram for you speeding up your pc.

2. Delete porn.

3. Empty recycle bin.

4. Tell your mom to invest in streaming porn instead of downloading it.
